Mammography
- Mammography is the process of using low-energy X-rays to examine women's breasts for diagnostic purposes. The goal of mammograms is early detection of breast cancer, usually by detecting tiny masses or calcifications.
- The examination takes 10 to 20 minutes.

Preparations necessary for the examination
- Describe any breast symptoms or problems to the technician performing the examination.
- Always inform your physician or X-ray technician if there is any possibility of pregnancy.
- Do not use deodorant, talcum powder, or any other lotion under the arms or on the breasts on the day of the examination.
It’s preferred that:
- Schedule a mammogram in the week before your period, as the best time is a week after your period.
- Bring previous mammograms at the time of examination.
